The Poison apples

by Lily Archer

Cinderella, Snow White, and Repunzel all have something in common. Their Evil Stepmothers. Well Alice Bingley-Beckerman, Reena Paruchuri, and Molly Miller have that same thing--or person--in common as well. They think they are very alone in the universe until they go to Putnam Mount Mckinsey. a posh boarding school. This is where they meet and form their secret society dedicated to getting revenge.

This very comical story full of ups and downs is a light hearted book that is a fun read. In the beginning you feel sympathetic for these girls. In the end you are rooting for them. They're misadventures made me laugh aloud. I know what really caught my eye in the bookstore is the magnificent cover. I loved how the pages lining was red, red, red. The style of writing switched between the three girls so you got the full story and in their narration. This makes the story much more real for the reader. I loved the girls characters and how they weren't at all as they appeared. The plot ended open and i hope there is a sequel. All in all the book was pretty good.

Sweethearts by Sara Zarr

SWEETHEARTS BY SARA ZARR

Jennifer Harris and Cameron Quick were absolute bestfriends when they were young children. They were eachothers only friends. Both of them being outcasts. One day Cameron dissapears and Jennifer is left alone and afraid. A cruel childs prank, or the kids that always teased Jennifer told her Cameron was dead. and being nine years old she believes them. Then later Jennifer who is chubby and shy morphs into popular and confident Jenna. Jenna is doing great until her 17th birthday when Cameron shows up again. then things start to spiral out of control.

This book, as i was reading it, i thought was the best book in the world. One of the best books i've read. and really it is. the writing is absolutely amazing but Jenna's voice makes it a little painful at times. Jenna's voice rings true through out the book. She is a troubled but likeable character, and i loved her from the beginning. Sometimes you wanted to scream at her...but that was just her character. i loved how Jenna would have sudden flashbacks that brought you into her past, and how things were for her. it made you understand her and her situation better. it also brought on a lot of suspence. i fell in love with Cameron Quick from the very first sentence he spoke. his character was true and kind to the very end. Jenna's mother i found very UNlikeable. She didnt see what her daughter had to go through and looked past her younger years of neglect. Although Jenna's stepfather Alan makes up for that in being kind and good to Jenna. Unlike how many stepparents are portrayed. This books i found a bit heavy but worth your time. I thought the ending was perfect for the story and how things were supposed to be. Although it was a little dark. This story will stay with you long after you've turned the last page.

Freaky Green Eyes by Joyce Carol Oates

Freaky Green Eyes

Joyce Carol Oates

Franky or Francesca Pierson has a take action "adult persona" that she feels growing inside her as she gets older. Frankie has a problem. And it takes the form of her father. he is infact a bully, physically and emotionally. Her parents marriage have been struggeling for a while now but when her mother suddenly goes missing Franky turns a blind eye to the whole thing hoping her mother has just run off. But freaky knows it isnt true. and Franky's going to have to be the one to stop it....

Now when the front cover said "phycological thriller" i didnt know if this book was right for me. because well i'll be honest. I'm a whimp. a big whimp. But i found once i started that i wasnt able to put it down! the story was amazing. Joyce Carol Oates does a wonderful job of portraying family violence. the story is true to the very end and Franky's narration and voice give it an edge like no other. the story is depressing at times and maybe a bit frustrating but i found the ending very satisfying.

First Review The Ashleys by Melissa De La Cruz

The Ashleys
Melissa De La Cruz

Theres a new name in school

Three girls called The Ashleys run Miss Gamble's Preparatory School for Girls. They set the rules, the way to dress, latest trends, everything. Lauren Page has been in school with them for her whole life. And shes had enough. She used be a loser. But now that her father has made millions with his new website shes changed. And she has a new makeover to prove it. Though Lauren has a plan. A plan to invade the Ashleys and take them down. But can she do it?

The Ashleys is very much like The Clique by Lisi Harrison. Although in my opinion better. Told in alternating chapters between the three Ashleys and Lauren you get the full story between them. I enjoyed the story Immensely. There were times where i thought it was unrealistic but i found it a very fun read. i dont usually enjoy stories like that (i.e Gossip Girl, The Clique). Also it was a bit predictable at times but good all the same.
i give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Characters:
Ashley Spencer: the "top dog" or head Ashley at Miss Gamble's Preparatory School for Girls. The only one of the Ashleys who doesnt have to use a nickname. NO ONE defys Ashley Spencer.
Ashley "A.A" Alioto: nicknamed A.A she is more of a tomboy with a retired super model mom. A.A is known as the nicest Ashley.
Ashley "LiLi" Li: nicknamed LiLi. Lili is usually more on the jealous side of Ashley Spencer. She would do anything to have Ashley Spencers approval and hates second place.
Lauren Page: Lauren just earned a fortune. On the outside she is no longer the loser she once was. On the inside she might still be the same. shes desperate to become an Ashley and then bring them down.

LOOK OUT ASHLEYS THERES A NEW NAME IN SCHOOL.
